SupTech Summit 2026

As financial markets become increasingly digital, interconnected and fast-moving, supervisory authorities face a common challenge: how to keep pace with innovation while maintaining effective oversight.

This challenge brought together 150 participants from 30 institutions across 20 countries at FINA SupTech Summit 2026, held at Sheraton Istanbul City Center from 12 to 14 October.

With 50 participants attending in person and 100 joining virtually, the Summit connected representatives of central banks, financial regulatory authorities, fintech organizations and technology companies for presentations, discussions, practical workshops and international networking.

The programme explored important developments shaping modern financial supervision, including always-on supervision, machine-to-machine regulatory reporting, artificial intelligence, data governance, digital licensing and the supervision of emerging financial technologies.

Day One: Exploring the Future of Financial Supervision

The Summit opened with welcoming remarks from Kakhaber Kheladze, CEO of FINA, and Elene Davidova, Chief Commercial Officer at FINA, setting the stage for international dialogue and the exchange of practical supervisory experience.

The first day brought together perspectives from regulators, technology specialists and financial industry representatives.

Avtandil Maisuradze, Head of Division, Non-Banking Institutions Supervision Department at the National Bank of Georgia, discussed the growing importance of SupTech in financial supervision, highlighting the role of technological innovation and institutional discipline in modern regulatory oversight.

Teimuraz Murghulia, Founder and Head of Digital Transformation at Nastavia and Technology Partner at FINA, explored how data governance, shared standards and semantic interoperability can strengthen confidence across regulatory ecosystems.

Luka Menteshashvili, Product Manager at FINA, presented the transition toward machine-to-machine supervision, granular data collection and live regulatory reporting, examining how automated data exchange can support more timely supervisory oversight.

Zeynel Abidin Avcı, Founder and Managing Director of Finus Consultancy and Board Member of the Türkiye Fintech Association, examined the regulatory implications of digital payments, tokenized finance and virtual assets, drawing on real-world cases to illustrate emerging supervisory challenges.

Efe Emre Selimoglu, Sales Manager for Türkiye and CIS at Temenos, explored how changing consumer expectations, digital banking and artificial intelligence are reshaping the relationship between financial institutions and regulators.

Together, these sessions offered complementary perspectives on the technological and institutional changes required to support more effective financial supervision.

One of the central highlights of the programme was the panel discussion, Building the Next Generation of SupTech.

By bringing together professionals from different countries and institutional backgrounds, the discussion reflected one of the Summit's central objectives: strengthening international cooperation and knowledge exchange in SupTech development.

Day Two: From Innovation to Practical Application

The second day focused on practical approaches, emerging technologies and real-world applications of SupTech solutions.

Dr. Juliet Ongwae, Director, Services Africa at Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS), the implementing vehicle of the University of Cambridge SupTech Lab, presented global developments in always-on supervision, sharing practical lessons and international examples of supervisory modernization.

Mariam Rusishvili, AI Consultant at FINA, former researcher at the University of Chicago and former Cisco engineer, explored the opportunities and risks associated with artificial intelligence in financial services. Her session included a live demonstration of Power Data Chat, illustrating how AI can support more accessible and efficient data analysis while maintaining human oversight and data security.

The programme continued with practical workshops led by FINA specialists:

  • Luka Menteshashvili, Product Manager at FINA, introduced SupTEXA, FINA's AI-powered solution for supervisory document extraction and analysis.

  • Saba Galdava, System Integrator at FINA, addressed data processing and validation in regulatory workflows.

  • Anna Beburishvili, Head of the Project Management Office at FINA, presented FIRST e-Licensing, demonstrating digital approaches to financial institution registration, licensing, beneficial ownership management and authorization.

These sessions connected the Summit's broader discussions with practical technologies designed to address everyday challenges faced by supervisory authorities.

Beyond the Conference Room: Building International Connections

While the presentations and workshops formed the core of the programme, FINA SupTech Summit 2026 was also an opportunity to strengthen professional relationships across borders.

Networking dinners and informal discussions allowed participants to continue exchanging experiences, explore common challenges and establish new connections.

On 14 October, the Summit concluded with a private Bosphorus yacht tour and certification ceremony, offering participants a memorable experience in Istanbul.

These activities reinforced the importance of personal connections and international collaboration in advancing supervisory innovation.

A Shared Vision for the Future of Supervision

Throughout the Summit, one message became increasingly clear: the future of financial supervision depends not only on adopting new technologies, but on building the institutional capabilities needed to use them effectively.

From automated regulatory data collection to AI-assisted analysis and e-licensing, the discussions demonstrated how technology can support more timely, connected and informed supervisory processes.

At the same time, the exchange of experiences between central banks, regulatory authorities and industry specialists highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing challenges that increasingly extend beyond national and institutional boundaries.

For FINA, the Summit reaffirmed the value of creating a platform where supervisory professionals can exchange knowledge, explore practical solutions and contribute to the ongoing evolution of SupTech.
